You’ve been walking your way for better health and tracking your steps but still not sure about the optimal number for your health.
The definitive calculation is: You should be logging 15000 steps every day (approximately three hours of walking), according to a new study published in the International Journal of Obesity.
You must Walk 15000 Steps a Day for Your Health!
Researchers at the University of Warwick in England actually measured the BMI, waist sizes, blood sugar levels and cholesterol profiles of post office workers in Scotland who spend the bulk of their days on foot. Compared with their colleagues with office jobs, they had much better metabolic profiles—and, more importantly, no heightened risk of heart disease.
There are a few other ways towards logging all those steps every day. Go for walking meetings instead of at the conference room. Move around your office, instead of sitting in front of the computer all day long. When you receive a call, walk and talk avoid sitting on the couch and speaking.
Even if it doesn’t add up to 15,000, it’s a great start. Just jump start your day with this goal.
