It is a news that would bring joy to Rajinikanth fans across the State. The actor himself today confirmed that he will meet his fans from 11 to 16 April in Chennai. He, however, denied any political significance behind the plans to meet his plans.
Addressing media persons after Malaysian Prime Minister Mohd Najib Tun Razak called on the actor at his residence in Poes Garden this morning, he said, ‘I am grateful to the Malaysian Prime Minister for accepting my invite to visit my home whenever he comes to Chennai’.
Rajinikanth recalled the hospitality provided to him when he had been to Malaysia for over two months to shoot for his last release Kabali. Remember in the movie, he plays an aging Malaysian underworld don, who fights for the rights of Tamils settled in the country.
To another question whether he would replace Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan as the brand ambassador of Malaysian Tourism, he dismissed it as rumors.
When Rajinikanth was queried about a meeting with his fans on 2 April, he said, ‘There is a meeting of fans happening 2 April But I am not attending it. Fans are arranging it among themselves.
‘However, between 11 and 16 April, I will be meeting my fans. There is a long-pending demand from my fans to take photographs with me. There is nothing political and there will be no major announcement.’
Rajini also said fans would discuss the future plans of the clubs spread across the State.
On his decision to cancel his trip to Jaffna following opposition from a section of political leaders in Tamilnadu, he said, ‘I have already given a statement. I am disappointed. But it’s all over and we will sort it out.’
To a question on his forthcoming movie 2.0, the Endhiran star said, ‘Shoot is completed and post-production works are on.’
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Prime Minister posted a picture of him with Rajini on his Twitter page and wrote, ‘Just had a very warm n friendly meeting with Mr. Rajnikanth the Tamil superstar at his home’.
Razak is on a two-day trip to Chennai. He also called on Tamilnadu governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami among others.
