Located on North Boag road in T Nagar, Amdavadi restaurant is one of the best places to have Gujarati food in Chennai. They have a carefully curated selection of Gujarati cuisine and the restaurant was founded by Ranveer shah. Mr Ranveer Shah also runs an NGO, an Ayurveda hospital and a cultural heritage centre.
The place is famous for Khatta Dhokla, mango pulp and for its combo offers. The combo offers are available for both lunch and dinner and contain green salad, two side dishes, roti, kichdi or rice and pappad, sweet and a beverage .The signature dishes of the place are panki, which is steamed rice pancakes made in banana leaf and thepla and jhamfal (rotis made of methi and served with guava gravy). The menu changes every three months, they have three chefs and the restaurant can accommodate about 45 people. Started in December 2011, the restaurant is one of the few vegetarian, pure Gujarati cuisine restaurants in Chennai. The city of Chennai only has restaurants that combine Rajasthani and Gujarati but this is an exclusive Gujarati restaurant. The restaurant serves main course, sweets, starters, Gujarati beverages, platter and unlimited Thali.
