“Hi Barbie! Hi Ken! . . .” Barbie 2023 opens door to the whole new world of pink. Greta Gerwig’s smashes the audiences’ imagination about Barbie as the movie begin. The intellectual writing of Greta ensures to make the use of satire essentially wherever it is required. She touches the hot areas including patriarchy, feminism and existentialism as if what her own Barbie doll goes through. Having said that, one cannot deny the marvellous performances of Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken.
Traveling into the Barbie 2023 movie, the plot introduces the stereotypical Barbie, played by Margot Robbie. She undergoes a malfunction as there is something wrong with the creator, Mettle, in the real world. To fix it right, Barbie and Ken travel to the real world. During their visit to the real world, Barbie is exposed to the plight of the women and Ken gets a course in patriarchy. And what happens next makes the movie more intriguing!
We heard you… we are not going to spill it entirely!
Greta, dexterously, uses feminism and patriarchy throughout the movie. The underlining satire blends well with the plot. This makes us give a thumbs up at the end of the movie – Yes, That’s a smart play, girl! Speaking of which, the creator also handles the battle of sexes via Ken’s Kendom taking over Barbie’s Barbie Land. Meanwhile, she also highlights satirically that men fight each other over a woman towards the end of the movie. Overall, the movie is occasionally fun and beautifully smashing the Barbie myth.
And if you are waiting for the part where the movie to end up like Kiddy Joe’s version of “I am a Barbie Girl” hit number, where, she utters, “Oh, I Love You, Ken!” at the end, then we tell you, Margot Robbie’s not!
