It is observed to create awareness on tourism, travel and the nation’s economic benefits from tourism. The Government of India started it with the purpose of promoting natural beauty, rich culture and heritage. While India, itself, is a celebrated tourist destination amidst the foreigners, it has been visited by numerous people all over the world. On every year, January 25th, India celebrates National Tourism Day. The Indian Government started observing National Tourism Day since 1948. It was observed with the mission to promote famous tourist destinations of the country, thereby preserving India’s cultural heritage and the rich legacy. The Ministry of Tourism in India, is accountable for promoting tourism across the nation.

When it comes to significance and importance, National Tourism Day was pronounced to encourage traveling, developing economic growth, and providing job opportunities.
