Chennai is the safest metro city in the country, according to the data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). The latest reports say that Bangalore is the third most unsafe city in the country.
Crime: Bangalore comes third after New Delhi and Mumbai. Statistics shows that 35,576 crimes were reported in the year 2015 in Bangalore. New Delhi had about 1.73 lakh cases and Mumbai had 42940 crime cases.
Murders: The city of Bangalore had about 188 murders in the year 2015 after Delhi which had 464 and Patna which had 232 murders.
Rape, kidnapping and Abduction: Bangalore had 122 reported rape cases and 777 cases of abduction and kidnapping. The number of cases of abduction and kidnapping in New Delhi was 6630 and in Mumbai were 1583 cases in the year 2015.
The police officials feel the main reason for the rise in crimes cases reported is because of the better reporting system in the city of Bangalore compared to other cities and many activists also feel a lot more has to be done to make the city a lot safer.
Cyber Crime: Bangalore also topped the cyber crime cases with 1041 cases in the year 2015. Hyderabad is reported to have 354 cases, Kolkata has 111 cases, Delhi had 90, Mumbai had 26 and Chennai had about 29 cases.
Dowry : The city of Bangalore also tops dowry cases. Dowry related cases and death is now a huge concern in the city. There were about 714 cases reported of Dowry in the year 2015. The city is followed by places like Jamshedpur and Patna which had 157 and 151 cases. The dowry cases reported in Delhi and Chennai were 17 and 3. Bangalore had 54 people die because of dowry, which is the highest after New Delhi which reported 100.
Road Accidents: Bangalore lost 784 people in accidents or road rage. Delhi recorded maximum deaths with 1339 because of negligent or rash driving. Chennai had about 807 cases of road accidents.
Chennai continues to be a city with a minimum number of crime cases making it the safest city in the country. It has been rated the safest Indian city compared to seven other places, including Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.
