A city based photographer shares his story about how he saved a girl from a rape attempt. Vasanth Paul is a resident of Chrompet, had caught the first-day show of Kabali and was going home with his friends. It was nearly midnight when he stopped by a bridge in Alandur for a smoke and then heard a cry. He saw a woman being seemed drugged, assaulted by three men and calling out for help. Vasanth said he tried to help, but was immediately strangled by a rope by one of the men. Paul shared the complete story on his Facebook timeline and it has become one of the most circulated stories now. A passing auto heard Vasanth Paul and the woman’s cry and reached out to help. Both of them chased away the attackers. No police complaint has been filed yet, but Vasanth hopes to take action as soon as possible. Sam is now consulting with his lawyers on what to do.
The city was shocked when an IT employee was hacked to death last month. The same week had many other disturbing incidents. Now, a woman escapes rape bid because of Vasanth and the auto driver. Looks like the crimes against women is only increasing. ‘’Don’t be afraid to face a situation, just because you’re alone. If the cause is right, the world would join you right away’’, added Sam in his Facebook status yesterday. This is yet another reminder that strict laws and security are important for any place. It’s time we placed much importance to a woman’s safety and it’s time to take some strong action against the criminals who indulge in these cruel crimes. Vasanth has set an example of how it is important to help in times of need.
