Chennai’s first smoking brownie

Sahi Cafe introduces smoking brownie in Chennai. The cafe  was launched in November 2015 by Madhusudhanan Kalaichelvan and Mohmed AbuBacker, who are architects and foodies. So what prompted them to start this up is their desire for a platform to share their love for food and to start promoting traditional dishes of south India. That is when they established Sahi cafe in Nelson Manickam road and the cafe has an objective to make sure that food is an experience for their customers. When the brothers travelled around India, they saw the smoking brownie concept in Bombay which they had originally tasted in Chicago and wanted to introduce it in Chennai.  The smoking brownie is a regular brownie that is dipped in liquid nitrogen for the smoke to come out. The smoking brownie is priced at 60 INR and people are  loving it. Since it is summer time, a lot of kids are coming to taste this new brownie.


We spoke to Madhusoodhanan Kalaiselvan, co-founder of the cafe and he told us that after launching the cafe in 2015, they understood that customers are always looking for something different in the menu.  The cafe‘s signature dishes are Makli (containing boiled vegetables and chicken and crushed pepper) and compo chicken ( chicken cooked in a special gravy services with egg) . Now, they have Chennai’s first smoking brownie which is already creating a lot of buzz on social media.  If you want to visit the cafe, please note that it is open from 11am and to 11pm. The cafe is also listed in the list of pocket-friendly cafes in Chennai.
