After ‘Raazi, filmmaker Meghna Gulzar announced her second collaborating with Vicky Kaushal, the film is titled Sam Bahadur, based on the glorious life of India’s first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

Though the film was announced in 2019 with Vicky Kaushal, there was some debate regarding the leading lady in the film. Now, Meghna announces the leading ladies of the film, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Sanya will be playing the role of Silloo Manekshaw, wife of Sam Manekshaw and Fatima Sana Shaikh will be playing the role of Indira Gandhi.

Taking to her social media profile, Meghna dropped a picture with the entire ensemble and wrote, “50 years ago, this week, India triumphed in the historic 1971 war. Another reason it is also special for us is that we welcome @sanyamalhotra07 as Silloo Manekshaw and @fattysanashaikh as Smt. Indira Gandhi to our #SamBahadur family! Eager to experience this very special journey! @vickykaushal09 @RonnieScrewvala @RSVPMovies”

Manekshaw was the chief of the Indian Army in 1971 when India fought the Bangladesh Liberation War with Pakistan.
