Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar praises Shahid Kapoor for performing all the action in forthcoming Bloody Daddy.
Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar and Shahid Kapoor were interacting with Newshelpline during the trailer launch of Bloody Daddy, which is an official remake of French drama Sleepless Night.
Ali is known for larger-than-life actioners such as Gunday, Tiger ZInda Hai and Bharat, with Bloody Daddy the filmmaker has tried more realistic, gritty and edgy stunts.
When asked about shifting genre with Shahid Kapoor and his experience, Ali said, “With Shahid Kapoor, action was never a problem, because he has the rhythm. In film fights, you’re not actually fighting, so because he has a great understanding of movement and dance, it was easy for him to adapt. My entire action team, all international artists, when they looked at him and when he could come for the rehearsals, they were like wow. He knows his beats, he understands the process, and he adapts fast”
“99 percent of the action is real hand-to-hand combat, and he has done it all by himself. And while doing all the action, which is a draining process, he lost a lot of weight” added Ali.
The film is set in one night, when an NCB officer (Shahid) and his team busts down a narcotics scam, which leads the drug lord (Ronit Roy) to kidnap the NCB’s officer’s son in exchange for retrieving a bag of cocaine. With no other option, the NCB officer agrees to retrieve the bag from the NCB headquarters, where he soon uncovers some of the moles in the NCB and earns the suspicions of his colleagues.
The film also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Ankur Bhatia and Vivan Bhatena. The film is scheduled to be released on 9 June 2023 on Jio Cinema.
