Gaurav Mehta, Founder of Jaipur Watch Company debuted his legacy brand on Shark Tank India, season 2 aired on 17th January 2023, Tuesday. India’s 1st Micro Luxury watch brand resolutes of going global after successfully captivating the Indian watch market and watch connoisseurs.
During the episode, Gaurav reminisces to the Sharks how in 2012 his passion of experimenting with watches which has now become one of its kind business. The brand is notably recognised for their limited edition watches that showcase India’s history and rich heritage. Gaurav’s tryst with watches began at a young age whilst experimenting with designs, he once embedded a British India 1 Pice Hole coin as a dial in one of his favorite watches of the time. To his surprise it became an eye-catcher after which requests started pouring in from friends and family to buy the watch. At this moment. Gaurav conceived Jaipur Watch Company back in 2013. The first ever watch curated by Gaurav has now become a bestselling limited edition watch that retails at Rs. 55,000.
The homegrown brand handcrafts a limited edition selection of timeless pieces that exude tradition with a subtle hint of contemporary design. Each watch is handcrafted meticulously to be cherished as heirlooms that can be passed down to generations. Some of the popularly known designs are the Indian-themed watches that are embedded with pre-British era coins, postage stamps, Pichhwai paintings, feathers and precious stones amongst others. Although the brand couldn’t bag a deal from the investors on Shark Tank season 2, it certainly did turn a lot of eyes and made a great impression amongst the sharks. It received stellar feedback from the sharks on their Pret and Bespoke collection as being one of the most innovative Indian watch brands that captures Indian homage beautifully through their watches. Jaipur Watch Company is currently working on launching a smartwatch to keep up with the rapidly growing industry. In addition, they are also launching an exciting concept of creating Instant Bespoke watches within 15 minutes at their live store in Jaipur and Delhi.
Speaking about his experience on Shark Tank, Gaurav Mehta, the founder of Jaipur Watch Company says, “It was a metamorphic experience to be debuting my brand on a global show. I learnt a very valuable lesson from the sharks that lays impetus on the importance of having retail outlets in an era when everything is virtual. We immediately took up the learning and opened two stores, in Delhi and Jaipur, right after the episode. I am very happy to share that Anupam Mittal has become our client and ordered two watches from us. He recently got a watch made for Mr. Amitabh Bachchan and gifted him on the sets of KBC. In addition to this Jaipur Watch Company’s website got over 50000+ visitors overnight and also gained 1000+ followers on Instagram.”
During the pitch, Gaurav received great advice from Sharks, Namita and Anupam to create two separate brands under Jaipur Watch company that cater to different sets of audience, one who prefer convenience and others who are aspirational. Peyush Bansal said that corporate gifting shouldn’t be under the same roof to build a luxury brand that aims to launch stores in India. Shark Aman showed great love towards the brand and wishes to help Gaurav Mehta in scaling the brand. Jaipur Watch Company is a legacy brand aiming to take India global.
