Get your dress right this V-Day!

Valentine’s Day is around the corner and date-night dressing can be a tricky thing. With lots of options available, the question is how to nail the right one? Having an expert opinion is the need of the hour. Here are some style tips to select the perfect ensemble on this day.

Most women fall into one of four categories: Pear, wedge, rectangle, apple and hourglass.
Pear shape

Emphasise your waist and arms, add volume to your shoulders and upper body. As a rule of thumb, necklines for dresses should accentuate the shoulders and waist. Opt for visually interesting hemlines on dresses that slim the hips and thighs. Try A-line skirts and experiment with light-coloured tops and dark coloured bottoms for contrast.

Dress Inner

Apple shape
Select dresses that have necklines that elongate your figure, like V-necks. A way to create a waistline and draw attention away from the midsection is to wear a structured jacket with a dress. Do go for v-neck tops to create the illusion of a longer torso and go for monochromatic looks.

Wedge shape
If you have great shoulders and arms, go strapless and wear a statement necklace to draw attention up.  If you have a tiny waist, use a fabulous belt to really show it off. Do wear bright colours on the bottom, and wear full skirts. Do not experiment with boat neckline tops, look for clothes that create the illusion of a waist.

Rectangle body shape
The waist, hip and shoulder widths are similar. Your best assets are your arms and legs. Create curves and show off slender legs and arms. A pencil skirt with a side-slit shows off your legs and adds visual interest. Do wear tops with collars, ruffles and details and have fun with colourful bottoms, feel free to experiment.

Hourglass shape

Your shoulders and hips are similar in proportion and set off by a tiny waist. Balance, balance, balance; that is the key to selecting clothes for an hourglass-shaped body. Search for dresses that have a fitted top half and hug your waist to avoid adding bulk. Accessorise with belts so that the naturally smaller waist is showcased. A-line cut or wrap dresses are a perfect match for the hourglass-shaped body. Do not hide your curves with baggy clothing. Pick thin, lightweight styles and fabrics and go for high waist skirts or straight leg jeans.

An all-black outfit may be simple, but it always saves us. It gives you a classy look and it would never go wrong. From top to bottom, go full jet black and experiment with accessories.

The colour of love is ‘Red’ you can plan on taking the theme a little more literally, head to toe red can actually be super chic.

There’s no worse feeling than being stuck out and about in uncomfortable shoes, so we recommend that you make sure to keep things comfortable, but opt for something with a heel.
