A 19-year-old was declared dead and nine others were injured after participating in a trial ride in Kishkinta theme park. The incident took place at 8.00 pm after the working hours of the park. 20 people have minor injuries and one is critically injured. Manikandan, about 19 years had head injuries and was declared dead. He was declared dead by a private hospital in Tambaram. It was the staff of the theme park that were made to be a part of the trial ride called disco dancer which is a revolving merry-go-around. The relatives of the victim reported that they were forced to sit in the trial runs. The investigation is being carried out about the sudden de-alignment of the giant wheel.
“We have refused to sit many times. But they would compel us to sit, promising everything was safe,” said Charles, a cousin of two of the injured being treated at Deepam Hospitals in Tambaram. Eye witnesses say that the ride broke into many pieces and collapsed. The joy ride was being repaired after the Chennai floods that happened in 2015. The relatives of Manikandan want the people responsible for the disaster to be taken into custody. The amusement park has promised to take care of the expenses of the people have suffered injuries.
