Loktak Lake – Manipur
Manipur’s Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in India. Most beautiful attractions of the state are the Loktak Lake and the Sendra Island on it. Loktak is situated in the valley of Imphal, being a home to all the rivers and rivulets that run in the state of Manipur. Now it’s also has become a home first of it’s kind floating elementary school.
The Lake consist within itself many other floating islands -made from organic waste on the same lake. It’s a truly mesmerizing sight to anyone with the pristine water, the labyrinth of boat routes, the greenery of the surroundings and the riveting crimson sunset.
Loktak Lake and Sendra Island are treasures of a dynamic ecosystem and demand protection and preservation. In recent years human encroachment has led to shrinkage of the lake.
The climate here is pleasant throughout the year, so you can drop in any time of the year. Being a hilly region one needs some layers during the evening for protection from cold.
