If you’re a person who’s after brainpower at the start of the day, you got to start drinking mochas. This is because Mocha latte improves your attention.
A delicate blend of caffeine and chocolate in a mocha is best for your brain than regular old coffee or hot chocolate, according to a new research from Clarkson University in New York.
“Marriages are made in heaven”, the same saying goes with stimulant caffeine combined with antioxidants of dark chocolate work together to decrease anxiety, increase your attention span and even strengthen your memory, says researchers.
Lead researcher Ali Boolani says in his statement that,”This was a really fun study”. “Cocoa increases cerebral blood flow, which increases cognition and attention. Caffeine alone can increase anxiety.
“This particular project found that cocoa lessens caffeine’s anxiety-producing effects – a good reason to drink mocha lattes!”
To discover this, Boolani and his team did more than pestering the on-campus barista – they comprehensively analysed the brains of 24 students who completed a randomised, double-blind experiment over the course of an entire year.
Each of the participants was asked to complete a 26-minute test that evaluated cognitive speed, mood and attention span four times. Each time, they were given a different drink to have prior – some of the drinks were regular old coffee, others were decaf, and some were delicious mochas.
The results showed that almost every participant performed better in the test after consuming caffeine – but even better results were had after drinking a blend of caffeine and dark chocolate.
