The Kabali hit pair filmmaker Pa Ranjith and superstar Rajinikanth are coming together for another movie. The flick is going on floors on 28 May near Chennai.
The big news about the movie is that a grand set resembling Dharavi slums of Mumbai is being erected for the purpose. This is said to be done at a huge cost. The 161st venture of Rajinikanth, is produced by his son-in-law and National-award winning actor-director Dhanush and it has let loose speculations that Dhanush would play a cameo in it.
Rajinikanth has completed the shoot for 2.0, directed by Shankar and it is releasing in January 2017.
Reports say that Rajinikanth was mightily impressed by the story narrated to him by Ranjith and readily agreed to do the same.
The film is said to be based on the life of the Mumbai-based gangster Haji Mastan, the mentor of dreaded don Dawood Ibrahim. But it is yet to be officially confirmed.
Ranjith’s long-time associate, composer Santhosh Narayanan has been roped in for the film. They both made their debut with Attakathi in 2012 and worked again in 2014’s hit film Madras starring Karthi.
Santhosh Narayan also scored music for Kabali, which had Rajinikanth in the lead role. Other cast and crew including the female lead are expected to be announced soon.
Sources close to Wunderbar say that Ranjith has already commenced rehearsals with his artists at an undisclosed place near Chennai. Plans are on to complete the shoot by the end of this year. They add that the movie would be out next April.
