Nobody can forget the spin chilling murder of IT professional Swathi. The sensational murder was done in broad daylight at Nungambakkam railway station. Now, this incident has been made into a movie.
The flick is directed by filmmaker S D Rameshselvan, who made movies like Ulavuthurai and Jananam. The shooting for it has been completed and the movie has been titled Swathi Kolai Vazhakku.
The trailer that was released yesterday has courted controversy as it has scenes where police cut the throat of Ramkumar with a blade as soon as he was caught in Senkottai.
Produced by S D Subiah, the movie stars Ajmal of Ko fame playing an investigative officer from Nungambakkam police station. Newcomer Mano plays Ramkumar while Ayra dons the role of Swathi. A Venkatesh dons the role of Ramkumar’s advocate in the film.
Speaking about the movie, Rameshselvan, says, ‘It is a murder that shook the entire nation. The movie is not fiction but based on real life incidents. We have tried to be authentic all through’.
On his part, Ajmal, said, ‘Though I was getting a lot of offers after Ko, I wanted to go slow. I want my movies to be interesting and offer scope for me to perform. Swathi Kolai Vazhakku is a challenging film for me’.
At the trailer launch in Chennai, president of Tamil Film Producers Council, Vishal, FEFSI president R K Selvamani and veteran filmmaker S A Chandrasekhar among others took part.
Speaking on the occasion, Vishal, said, ‘Producers Council has been taking all efforts to ensure the welfare of producers and ensure that they get back their investment. I assure within five months, everything would be set right’.
