A day after it was announced that techie Swathi’s murder is being made into a movie, her father Santhanagopalakrishnan today asked police to stop its release. Today he submitted a petition to DGP T K Rajendran stating that the makers have not sought his permission to do a movie.
‘A film on my daughter’s murder will add to our agony and sorrow,’ he added.
Later speaking to media persons, Santhanagopalakrishnan, said, ‘Please let the family mourn alone after the tragedy. We are against a film on her death’.
Directed by Rameshselvan, the movie is titled Swathi Kolai Vazhakku. Ajmal of Ko fame plays a key role.
The trailer was released on Monday, which had some controversial scenes that includes policemen slitting the throat of Ramkumar while arresting him near his house at Shenkottai. In reality, the police stated that Ramkumar had slit his own throat fearing arrest.
The movie is produced by S K Subbiah. The film is made from the perspective of the investigating officer in the case, Ajmal.
The role of Swathi is played by Ayra and newcomer Mano plays Ramkumar.
Swathi was murdered at Nungambakkam railway station around 7 am on 24 June 2016. The accused, Ramkumar, hacked her with a sickle and ran away, letting her bleed to death.
Ramkumar was later arrested, after extensive investigations. He was produced before the Madras High Court and remanded in the Puzhal Central prison. But soon after that, he bit a live wire at the prison and died in September 2016.
