1)Sidney Sladon

Sidney Sladen’s clothes are all about cocktail, indo-western, lehengas, kids wear and mens wear, Indian bridal. He is a fashion designer from Kenya and has worked as a costume designer for many Indian films.  Sidney Sladen Launched his flagship store at TTK Road, chennai the last year.


2)Osman Abdul Razak

Osman is an engineering graduate but later branched out into fashion because of passion. He belongs to a family of exporters so it was easier for him to get into his line of interest and he started taking fashion seriously in 2006 and opened a store called Gabbana in 2007.  Gabbana specialises in handcrafted suits, shirts and trousers aimed for fashionable men.


3)Studio 9696

Studio 9696 was launched on 23 January , 2015 and the partners of the company are Ekta Nahar and Tupili Andrapathy Sandeep.  They specialise in bridal wear and have a collection that is high-end.  The founders are graduates from NIFT Chennai and have styled celebrities like Kamal Hassan , Dhanush , Arya etc.  Their first project was for the movie Aaha Kalyanam which was the Tamil remake of a Bollywood blockbuster.


4)Rehana Basheer

Rehana Basheer has been in the fashion industry for 10 years and has styled actresses  like Jyotika, Shalini and the designer is an Anarkali specialist. Her Chetput store has more than 100 types of Anarkali clothing and she is a designer who focuses on her customer’s individual preferences. She started taking fashion seriously in 2010 and believes it is her eye for detail that she has brought her to where she is now.


5) Maheshwari

Maheshwari is actress Sridevi’s cousin and turned designer in 2014.  She has also acted in a few movies.  Maheshwari admits that it was Sridevi, who encouraged her to follow her dreams in fashion design.

6) Rehane

Rehane is a designer known best for her luxury clothing, leather and accessories. Rehane is a regular at fashion weeks in Delhi.  She became popular and got recognised for her work when she sent her designs to a popular designer Valentino in the year 1990.  Her flagship store is in Chennai and she has outlets around the globe. She was born in France and is known for her designs with modern Indian sensibilities.


7) Chaitanya Rao

Chaitanya Rao has consistently proven himself in the Indian fashion scene and started designing in 2002.  His mother is an artist and was inspired by her to take up design.  He is known for his stylish western couture, and he entered bridal fashion last year. He studied in NIFT Delhi and there was no looking back for him.  He did economics thinking he would get into business, but fashion found him and he is one of the most sought after designers now in Chennai and in India. He has also worked in movies like Ayutha Ezhithu and Pokiri.

8) Hari Anand

Hari Anand specialises in bridal wear for men and women.  His designs are customized according to the customer’s preferences. He has been a part of the design scene for about 18 years. Fashion is what you are without having to speak is a statement which attracted him to the fashion industry and though he didn’t have a great start in fashion, he has made it big now.

9) Senthamarai Gokulakrishnan

Senthamarai is the founder of Azhag is a clothing brand that depicts strongly regional cultural values and craftsmanship.  Her designs are more into ethnic designs and fuses contemporary and conventional style of designs.


10) Studio 149

Studio 149 is headed by Swathi. Her designs are all about cuts, fabrics and embellishments. She believes that fashion is architecture – it’s a manner of proportions.  She began her fashion journey when she realised her love for well-made clothes and expanded her business thanks to the demand for her designs.
