- The World Day against Child Labor - 12th June
The World Day against Child Labor is held every year on June 12th. As per the Child Labor (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 and amended in 2016, a “Child” is defined as any person below the age of 15. It is a criminal offence to employ a child for any kind of work. Anyone who keeps a child in bondage for employment purposes is punishable with a prison term.
The presence of a large number of child laborers is regarded as a serious issue in terms of economic welfare. Kids who work, neglect to get vital educational training. Youth is the extraordinary and most joyful time of the lives of everybody during which one finds out about the fundamental methodology of the life from parents, friends, family and nature. Child labor interferes with the proper growth and development of the children in all aspects like mentally, physically, socially and academically.
We as a society have to agree on basics, such as the abolition of most abusive forms of child labor to march towards a bright future. Kids deserve to be joyful, healthy, fit and safe always. Let’s together abolish this social disease of poverty.
