Patrician Brothers Mark 150 Years in India, Building Trust through Education and Service to Society with a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration and Cultural Programme
The Congregation of the Brothers of St. Patrick from Ireland, also known as Patrician Brothers, began their mission in 1808. In 1875, 3 Irish brothers arrived in India to establish their mission to educate the youth. This year marks 150 years of their service in Chennai, where they established their first institution. With 27 institutions all over India since 1875 and mission schools in Ghana, Africa, since 2007, the Indian Brothers are commemorating the event with an eucharistic celebration by Most. Rev. Dr. Jeevanandham Amalanathan, Bishop of Kumbakonam, on 27th December 2025 at Adyar, Chennai. The event has drawn the Patrician Brothers across the globe to witness their journey of faith, education, and transformation. To celebrate this monumental moment, a Coffee Table Book entitled *A Journey Remembered: 150 Years of Patrician Mission in India* is released. It is a witness to the 150 years of solidarity of the Patrician Brothers who came to India inspiring the current Indian leaders to continue their legacy. St. Patrick’s AIHSS, St. Michael’s Academy, Patrician College of Arts and Science, and St. Patrick’s ICSE school are anchoring the events of the day marked by solemn celebration and cultural bonanza.
