KURINJI – A TASTE OF THE HILLS at Sangamithirai, Feathers Hotel
An Immersive Culinary Tribute to Tamil Nadu’s Majestic Highlands
There are flavours that comfort, and then there are flavours that transport.
Renowned for its signature Karikalan Virundhu, Sangamithirai at Feathers Hotel now presents Kurinji – A Taste of the Hills, extending its celebrated legacy of authentic Tamil culinary experiences to the mist-laden flavours of Tamil Nadu’s highlands.
Inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Kodaikanal, Ooty, Kollimalai and Yelagiri, the festival is a refined tribute to the mountain communities that have preserved their recipes through generations. From forest-sourced ingredients and native herbs to slow-cooked gravies and rustic fire-roasted preparations, Kurinji brings the soul of the hills to the heart of the city.
.Adding a poetic dimension to the experience, the menus unfold each day under the names of Tamil Nadu’s life-giving rivers — Vaigai, Bhavani, Amaravathi, and Thamirabharani. Much like these rivers nourish the land, every menu nourishes the palate with a carefully balanced selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies, ensuring a fresh narrative with every visit.
Menu Highlights: Javvathumalai Karu Nandu Rasam, Seeni Milagai Keezhanelli Saaru, Sutta Maragenasu, Gaasu Bonda, Solaiyur Dam Meen Varuval, Ellu Avara Kuzhambu, Yelagiri Era Thokku, Mola Barthathu, Aanaimalai Thakkali Salna, Musumusukkai Dosa. The experience concludes on a sweet and nostalgic note with traditional desserts such as Pittadu, Simili Urundai, and the refreshing Nongu Payasam, echoing the freshness and gentle sweetness of the hills.
Speaking about the festival, General Manager Sriram.S shared,
“Kurinji is more than a food festival — it is a celebration of Tamil Nadu’s hill culture and its deep-rooted culinary wisdom. We wanted to create an experience where every guest feels transported to the mountains, not just through taste, but through memory and emotion.”
Executive Chef NarayanaMurthi added,
“Our team invested significant time researching indigenous ingredients and traditional preparation methods. While we have preserved authenticity, we have also elevated the presentation to suit contemporary palates. The river-themed menus allow us to showcase the diversity within the hill regions, ensuring every meal tells a new story.”
