The Punjab Association Conducts ‘Roll-Out and Flag-Off Programme’ for Integrated & Sustainable Solid and Liquid Resource Management Project

The Punjab Association, Chennai, in association with the St. Thomas Mount-cum-Pallavaram Cantonment Board, participated in the Roll-Out and Flag-Off Programme for the “Integrated & Sustainable Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM)” Project held at the Pallavaram, Chennai.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Vinod Vikneswaran A., IDES. Chief Executive Officer, St. Thomas Mount-cum-Pallavaram Cantonment Board, highlighted the significance of implementing the SLRM Project within the cantonment limits and emphasized the importance of sustainable waste management practices for the community.
A key highlight of the programme was the handing over of tricycles for waste collection. Sri Vikram Aggarwal, President of The Punjab Association, Chennai, formally handed over the keys to the Chief Executive Officer of the Cantonment Board in the presence of Brig. Siva, VSM. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the waste collection and segregation system under the SLRM project.
The distribution of red and green buckets to commercial establishments was also formally launched by Sri Vikram Aggarwal in the presence of the dignitaries. Several business owners received the buckets during the ceremony as part of the project’s source-segregation initiative.
The programme further witnessed the inauguration of the SLRM Mega Exhibition and tertiary segregation units by Sri Vikram Aggarwal and Brig. Siva, VSM. The dignitaries also flagged off a public awareness rally to promote responsible waste management and community participation.
Shri C. Srinivasan, Resource Person from Vellore for the SLRM Project under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, explained the SLRM concept and its operational framework to participants and visitors at the exhibition.
The event concluded with the SLRM Pledge followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. P.A. Guna, Nominated Member, Cantonment Board.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from the staff of the St. Thomas Mount-cum-Pallavaram Cantonment Board, sanitary workers, SLRM volunteers, commercial establishment representatives and members of the public, who also joined the awareness rally in support of the initiative.
