Models Walked the Ramp in Helmets to Promote Women’s Road Safety at Bangalore Times Fashion Week

Runway models at Bangalore Times Fashion Week sport India’s first-ever women-focused helmet brand

Marking a major milestone for a mass consumer centric brand, Tvarra Helmets, India’s only brand of safety headgear for women riders, debuted on the rampwalk at the 13th edition of the Bangalore Times Fashion Week, held from June 26 to June 27 at the Sheraton Grand, Rajaji Nagar. A bi-annual event, Bangalore Times Fashion Week showcases the best of Indian fashion to the global fashion world.

Collaborating with the House of Pankaj Soni, a globally renowned designer wear brand, the event witnessed, for the first time ever, models walking the ramp wearing helmets on their heads. By integrating beauty with fashion, Tvarra sent out a clear message – that road safety can be fashionable too.

Speaking on the unique collaboration between road safety and fashion, Mrs. Alpana Parida, Founder and CEO of Tvarra Helmets said, “The partnership between Tvarra and Bangalore Times Fashion Week served to shine the spotlight on the aesthetic appeal and the style quotient of our range of helmets, which adhere to the highest safety standards not just in India but globally. By showcasing that road safety headgear can be both stylish as well as aspirational, we have presented a whole new dimension to fashion.

Tvarra’s twin objectives of presenting the helmet as both a riding accessory as well as a personal style statement has found resonance with thousands of women riders across India, who till had limited choices from generic products that were primarily designed for men. “We believe that just as fashion and couture is personal to each woman and is often a reflection and statement of her style, so too should be her choice of riding headgear,” adds Alpana. Each helmet comes in eye-catching colours with user friendly straps that have been tested against causing abrasion on the chin or slippage.

Since women’s head shapes and the ergonomics are different from that of men’s. Tvarra’s helmets for women are customised to the minutest details, such as including a notch for earrings and an optical grade visor, with use of lightweight materials.

Tvarra helmets, which have integrated design customisation with rigorous safety features, adhere to the highest standards as laid down by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for rider safety headgear and each helmet carries the mandatory ISI (IS 4151) safety certification that meets the USA Department of Transport (DOT) standards.

Each helmet is subjected to a multitude of tests as prescribed by the BIS, such as dropping an object weighing 10 kg from a height of 750 metres to check for retention (when a helmet does not roll off on impact). Tvarra’s helmets are a perfect blend of comfort and certification.
