WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2020!
- Turn the phrase “we are the virus” to We are the children of Mother Earth and neighbor to our Environment! This would definitely remind you about the bloodcurdling incident at Kerala which took the life of the mother elephant and her baby after being fed with crackers stuffed pineapple.
- Just a perfect reminder for every human out there- It is rightly said that “the difference between animals and humans is that animals change themselves for the environment, but humans change the environment for themselves”.
ORIGIN OF WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY: World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5th to spread awareness and about the Environment and its effects on the daily life of the people. The environment is the surrounding in which the people, animals, or plant lives in and so we need to understand the importance of the environment. However, people indulge in several activities to preserve and conserve life nurturing nature. People must have to understand how the environment plays a vital role in providing air, food, and overall giving healthy life. But what people do is that they just ignore the well-being of the environment by suppressing the idea that it is the environment that provides life to us. For instance, let’s consider the present situation which we are going through. This pandemic period teaches mankind several lessons and we even say that “Earth is healing by itself”, “there is less pollution and the wounds are healing”, “This is the anger of Earth”, aren’t we twitting and hashtagging such things? Well, Earth has been so much to us but think what we did to it until the entrance of the deadly virus. So, it is our prime duty to take care of our environment as if it is our neighbor. This is why World Environment Day is celebrated for the first time in 1973 with the theme “Only one Earth” and it is celebrated in over 100 countries since 1974 officially. So, it is our day to contribute something to take care of the earth and the environment. Meanwhile, World Environment Day is also known as Environment Day or Eco Day.
