Amrut Distilleries proudly unveils CaféX, a bold new Indian Single Malt that brings together two of Karnataka’s greatest crafts—world-class whisky making and exceptional coffee cultivation. Matured in casks seasoned with the finest coffee beans from the historic Harley Estate, which was established in 1864 in Sakaleshpur, CaféX is a tribute to the rich heritage of the Western Ghats and Amrut’s relentless spirit of innovation.

For centuries, whisky maturation has revolved around oak, wine, sherry, port and spirit casks. CaféX dares to ask a different question: what if one of the world’s finest coffee-growing regions could shape the future of whisky?

The answer lies in Amrut’s unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of single malt. For over two decades, the distillery has redefined the global perception of Indian whisky through groundbreaking expressions that have challenged convention rather than followed it. From pioneering releases such as Naarangi, Spectrum and Herald to now CaféX, Amrut has continually expanded the possibilities of whisky making.

Developed in collaboration with the Harley Estate, amidst the mist-covered hills of Sakaleshpur, CaféX celebrates two of Karnataka’s greatest gifts to the world—its internationally acclaimed single malt whisky and its exceptional coffee. Carefully selected coffee beans were used to season specially prepared casks, creating an entirely new canvas upon which Amrut’s award-winning single malt could evolve.

Inspired by the pristine landscapes of the Western Ghats, CaféX is presented in a striking white and emerald-green pack that reflects the purity of its origins and the boldness of its innovation. Limited to just 2,400 bottles worldwide, CaféX is yet another milestone in Amrut’s journey of redefining Indian single malt and reinforcing its position as one of the world’s most innovative whisky makers.

Tasting Notes 

Appearance: A radiant Golden Honey; viscous and brilliantly clear, reflecting a deep, polished luster in the glass

The Nose: The nose is nothing short of revolutionary. It opens with an avant-garde, savory greeting of fresh capsicum and sliced jalapeño, a rare and captivating departure from the traditional. This green, piquant energy is anchored by a lush fruity backbone and a decadent layer of vanilla crème. As it breathes, a citrus overture emerges, trailing into a sophisticated mocha chocolate profile. The aromatic experience is further elevated by delicate floral accents and a playful sherbet brightness, while a consistent, enticing spice weaves through every layer like a silken thread

The Palate: The entry is sensational and transformative. A brilliant interplay of floral and orchard fruits is supported by a robust, structural backbone of jalapeño and capsicum. While the spices are resonant and “loud,” they possess a noble restraint—offering intensity without heat. The mid-palate reveals a masterful marriage of creamy vanilla and rich mocha, uniquely seasoned with the essence of dried chilies. It is a masterclass in balance; the savory piquant notes don’t just coexist with the chocolate and floral tones—they amplify them
