Little Andaman Pro 2026 Kicks Off in Andaman & Nicobar Islands

The inaugural edition of the Little  Andaman Pro 2026 hosted by the Andaman & Nicobar Tourism and Surfing Federation of India, a  national-level surfing championship, officially kicked off in the pristine waters of Little Andaman, marking a  significant milestone for the islands’ growing reputation as a premier surfing destination in India. 

The event witnessed the participation of around 86 surfers, including international competitors, competing  across multiple categories such as Men’s Open Surfing Shortboard, Women’s Open Surfing Shortboard,  Men’s Open Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP), and Women’s Open Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP). 

Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Director of Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T) for the Andaman &  Nicobar Administration, was present throughout the day, flagged off the SUP race, and later in the evening  even tried his hand at the sport himself. The event was strongly supported by the Andaman & Nicobar  Tourism Department, whose continued efforts are instrumental in promoting the islands as a world-class  destination for adventure sports and sustainable tourism. 

The opening day delivered high-energy performances across categories, setting the tone for an  exciting competition ahead. 

In the Surfing Men’s Open – Round 1, standout performances came from Sivaraj Babu, who scored an  impressive 15.17 (won by 11.1), Kishore Kumar with 15.00 (won by 7.97), and Ramesh Budihal with 13.67  (won by 7.94), each topping their respective heats. 

In the Surfing Women’s Open – Round 1, Shrishti Selvam posted a strong 9.50 (won by 5.34), while Sugar  Shanti Banarse led her heat with 9.63 (won by 6.39), emerging as early frontrunners in the competition. 

The SUP Sprint Men’s Quarterfinals saw Sekar Pachai clock the fastest time of 1:04.70, followed closely  by Dinesh Selvamani at 1:05.89 and Selvarasan Nagamuthu at 1:09.19 in their respective heats. 

In the SUP Technical Men’s Semifinal – Heat 1, Rajesh D led the pack with a time of 6:08.02, while Dinesh  Selvamani (6:14.28) and Selvarasan Nagamuthu (6:14.63) secured strong finishes to advance further in the  competition. 

Day 2 promises more action-packed performances with Surfing Men’s Open Round 2 and Round 3, along  with the Surfing Women’s Open Quarterfinals set to take place at the Main Bank. Simultaneously, the  Secondary Bank will host the SUP Sprint Men’s Semifinals and SUP Technical Men’s Semifinal Heat 2. 

Blending sport, culture, and community, the Little Andaman Pro 2026 is poised to become a landmark event  in India’s surfing calendar, with the championship culminating in a vibrant prize distribution ceremony followed  by live music celebrations.
