Mobis India Foundation Empowers 48 Wheelchair Users in Andhra Pradesh with Personalized Mobility Devices

Mobis India Foundation, the CSR arm of Hyundai Mobis in India, today distributed 48 personalized mobility devices to wheelchair users in Puttaparthi, Sri Sathya Sai District, Andhra Pradesh, under its ongoing “Accessibility & Freedom – Empowering Wheelchair Users with Mobility Assistive Devices” initiative. NeoMotion, an IIT Madras-incubated assistive technology company, collaborated on the initiative by supplying the personalized mobility devices for this noble program.

The handover ceremony was held in the presence of Sri Mantri Mourya Bharadwaj, I.A.S., Joint Collector, Sri Sathya Sai District, who attended the event as the Chief Guest and handed over the mobility devices to the beneficiaries. Ms G. Archana, Assistant Director for persons with disabilities, transgender and senior citizens, Sri Sathya Sai district was also present.

The distribution forms part of the larger ₹6.3 crore mobility empowerment project through which 600 wheelchair users across eight states and union territories will receive NeoFly wheelchairs and NeoBolt motor-powered attachments. The initiative aims to enhance independent mobility, accessibility, and quality of life for persons with disabilities by enabling safe and affordable movement both indoors and outdoors.

Each beneficiary received a personalized NeoFly wheelchair, designed with multiple customization options to improve posture, comfort, and mobility. The wheelchair can be paired with NeoBolt, a motor-powered attachment that transforms it into a roadworthy mobility device within seconds, enabling users to travel longer distances independently. Developed and patented at IIT Madras, these mobility solutions are designed to address the unique challenges faced by wheelchair users in India.

Prior to the handover, beneficiaries underwent assessments and measurements to ensure that each wheelchair was customized to their individual needs, maximizing comfort, safety, and mobility outcomes.

Commenting on the initiative, Ms Sindhuja – Deputy Manager (HRGA- Legal & CSR Incharge), Mobis India Ltd., said:

“Today’s distribution in Andhra Pradesh marks the second handover ceremony under our ₹6.3 crore mobility empowerment initiative with NeoMotion. Sri Mantri Mourya Bharadwaj, I.A.S., Joint Collector, Sri Sathya Sai District, said:

“We are pleased to host this important mobility empowerment initiative in Puttaparthi. Collaborations between organizations such as Mobis India Foundation and NeoMotion play a vital role in advancing inclusion and accessibility for persons with disabilities.
