Adding another exciting chapter to its growing calendar of live events, The Spotted Deer now welcomes Permanent Vacation—a celebration of original music and the artists who keep the independent music movement alive.

After working closely with musicians for over eight years, Metal Chennai recognised a common thread among India’s independent artists. Most balance full-time careers, personal responsibilities, and everyday life while relentlessly pursuing their passion for music. For them, creating and performing music is more than a hobby—it’s their escape, their sanctuary, their Permanent Vacation.

Designed as a recurring platform for original independent music, Permanent Vacation invites audiences to unwind, disconnect from everyday stress, discover exciting new voices, and experience music the way it was meant to be heard—live, authentic, and deeply personal.

The inaugural edition brings together three of Chennai’s most celebrated independent acts, all returning to larger stages after an extended hiatus.

Stevie, one of Chennai’s most acclaimed indie singer-songwriters, returns with his full band, blending indie pop, alternative rock, R&B, and electronic influences into energetic and emotionally charged performances. Signed to OAF Records, Stevie has earned a loyal following for his distinctive sound and engaging live shows.

BIGSAM brings his signature blend of indie soul and pop-rock, delivering memorable melodies, heartfelt storytelling, and infectious energy. Having recently toured extensively as guitarist for Kaber Vasuki, BIGSAM now returns to the spotlight with his own original music.

Making their much-awaited comeback, Spotlight returns with fresh material and the alternative sound that established them as one of Chennai’s beloved independent bands. Their long-awaited return promises to be one of the highlights of the evening.
