“Walk for plastic” Is Organizing PAYANAM-75 The World’s Longest WALKATHON In Chennai

“Walk for plastic” is organizing “PAYANAM 75” which is the world’s longest WALKATHON for collecting littered recyclable plastic from roadside. It will be done in Chennai at 5 different routes.

The collected recyclable plastic will be donated to Greater Chennai corporation for the welfare of the sanitary workers. Each route covers around 15KM (15*5=75KM), & it is organised by Walk for plastic organizers. Once you submit the registration form, your desired route organizer will contact you shortly. “The active volunteer will be honored with a medal according to their enthusiastic involvement in Payanam 75”.

Prior to this we had successfully completed “Payanam 25” from Villivakkam to Besant Nagar on 03rd Nov 2019 which covered 25+kms. Over 130+Volunteer participated & collected around 100 kgs of recyclable plastic which was handed over to Greater Chennai Corporation.

Let’s walk for a change – Walk for plastic has recycled over 6.5 tons in just 230 days and saved over Rs. 45,000/- from the money collected out of recycling plastics. Approximately 1 lakh sq ft of landfill area has been saved by this activity. And the funds are entirely used for educating the rag picker’s children and to provide their other educational needs.

Walk for plastic movement was initiated by Mr. Gowtham, an Artist by Profession, on June 01st 2019 as a single man activity. Till date over 1800+ volunteers have gathered, who have actively participated in this activity and created awareness to more than 20k people.
