A Taste of the Golden City Arrives in Chennai: The New Punjab Club presents The Amritsar Food Festival
The New Punjab Club invites guests to experience the soul of Punjab with The Amritsar Food Festival, a limited-time culinary showcase celebrating the bold flavours, generous spirit, and time-honoured food traditions of Amritsar. Running from January 16 to January 25, 2026, the festival offers an immersive journey into the city’s iconic street food culture and comforting home-style cooking.
More than a destination, Amritsar is a culinary institution—shaped by centuries of Sikh heritage, the ethos of the Golden Temple’s langar, and the bustling energy of neighborhood markets such as Karari Chowk. The festival captures this spirit of abundance, authenticity, and warmth, bringing to the table the flavours that have defined Amritsari cuisine for generations.
The menu unfolds through thoughtfully curated small and large plates inspired by street-side favourites and family kitchens. Small plates such as Teen Mirch ka Paneer Tikka, Karari Chowk ki Tikki with Choley, Beera Bhatti Chicken, and Makhan Fish Tikka channel the robust flavours and lively energy of Amritsar’s streets.
The experience deepens with hearty large plates including Sarson ka Saag with Makki Ki Roti, Palak Paneer with Red Chilli Paratha, Amritsari Kulche with Choley, Tawa Chicken Tikka Masala with Garlic Naan, Special Rarha Mutton with Red Chilli Parantha, and Tawa Nutri Kulcha—each dish reflecting the comfort and generosity of traditional Punjabi home cooking.
The festival culminates with an indulgent sweet finale, featuring a Kesar Pista Lassi topped with peda crumble, alongside the show-stopping “Karah” Treat—the pièce de résistance of the festival. Inspired by the iconic cast-iron karah used in Golden Temple langar kitchens, the Karah Treat pays homage to Amritsar’s sacred culinary traditions, reimagined with contemporary finesse while retaining its deep cultural significance.
Through its carefully crafted menu and evocative storytelling, The Amritsar Food Festival stands as a tribute to the city, its people, and its enduring food legacy. At The New Punjab Club, Anna Nagar, Chennai, the festival reinforces the restaurant’s commitment to culinary authenticity and meaningful dining experiences—celebrating the warmth, generosity, and heritage that make Amritsari cuisine truly unforgettable.
