Makar Sankrant menus

1. Harvest Season at the Table: Kalpaney’s Makar Sankranti Menu
This Makar Sankranti, Kalpaney marks the harvest season with a special, two-day menu available on 14 and 15 January. Rooted in seasonal produce and everyday food memories, the menu reflects the many ways this time of year is celebrated across India. Sankranti, Pongal, Lohri, Bihu—different names, shared meanings. A moment to pause, gather, and welcome a new cycle together.

This festive special menu is a quiet celebration of seasonality, where regional techniques and winter produce lead the narrative. The spread opens with small plates that feel familiar yet thoughtfully reimagined. Avarakkai Usili Hummus Crisp brings together pan-roasted textures and rustic flavours, while Jackfruit and Waterchestnut Dumplings offer softness and contrast in every bite. Black Sesame Tandoori Cauliflower carries deep, smoky warmth, and Mix Sandige with Coconut Chutney recalls the simple pleasure of home-preserved crunch.

The mains unfold with comfort at their core. From the slow-cooked warmth of Avarakkai Kurma and the winter richness of Sarso ka Saag with Makki ki Roti, to the nourishing pairing of Kadala Curry with Bajra Khichdi and the gentle spice of Coorg-inspired Tindli Moi with Cashew Nuts, each dish reflects the grounding spirit of the harvest. A fragrant Avarakkai Pulao with Raita ties the table together in festive simplicity. To end it all, a cooling Cane and Ginger Sorbet cleanses the palate, followed by Dates and Nuts Holige with Coconut Milk, served warm, and unhurried, much like Sankranti itself.
