When Indian Whisky Meets Indian Fine Dining: Amrut Distilleries 50th Single Malt Launches at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel
Conceived as the first single malt whisky created exclusively for a restaurant, this collaboration reflects Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield’s vision of its food and beverage destinations as platforms for meaningful, experience-led partnerships. Distilled from Indian six-row barley and matured for over six years in a carefully selected refill virgin American oak cask, the bespoke expression has been thoughtfully designed to complement Zarf’s culinary philosophy, one that draws inspiration from the flavours of “forgotten India” and reimagines them for the modern, luxury-conscious diner.
“At Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield, our F&B destinations are designed to lead conversations” said Sanjay Gupta, Multi Property General Manager, Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center. “This collaboration with Amrut , a respected Indian family run brand reflects our strategic focus on innovation through one-of-a-kind partnerships where cuisine, craft, and culture come together to create experiences that are truly distinctive and destination-defining. Zarf continues to evolve as a space where Indian heritage is expressed in a modern, globally relevant way.”
The exclusive single malt was paired with the specially curated menu at Zarf, crafted exclusively to echo the whisky’s layered character and depth. The culinary experience featured signatures such as Mushroom ki Galouti with Lucknow potli spices and saffron warqi, Peshawari Namak Mandi lamb chops, lamb galouti kebab finished with saffron warqi, and Dal-e-Zarf, slow-cooked in stoneware with yellow moong lentils and desi ghee, creating a seamless dialogue between spirit and cuisine.
Commenting on the milestone release, Mr Rakshit N. Jagdale, Managing Director, Amrut Distillery, a brand with a singular and enduring legacy, said, “Releasing our 50th single malt in collaboration with Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield and Zarf marks a truly meaningful milestone for us. I am especially pleased that for our first private label in India, we have partnered with an esteemed institution like Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield, for their bespoke restaurant, Zarf.”
The launch evening at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield also featured a fashion walk curated by Prasad Bidapa with Hemant Trevedi’s designs featured that were inspired by the colours and flow of the whiskey adding a subtle yet sophisticated visual dimension to the experience and complementing the evening’s focus on craftsmanship and contemporary expression.
Through this collaboration, Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield strengthens its positioning as a leading culinary and lifestyle destination, while Amrut continues to reinforce its stature as India’s most awarded and admired single malt, together setting a new benchmark for experiential luxury in the country.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Golden Honey
Nose: Complan for sure! with a healthy competition with vanilla cream for supremacy. Roasted coffee punctuated by fruit orchard and coco laden chocolate / choco chip muffins!. There is a dose of caramel too!
Taste: Fruit marmalade and so enticing with the same complan and vanilla cream combine. It is a mesmerising middle ground that is so velvety with fruit burst followed by floral and delicate notes. Then there is a teasing of subtlest cracked black pepper notes with a mild citrus tone that is so amazing.
Finish: It is a stunning passion fruit finish with a touch of sweetness and is pretty long!
