Sangamithirai at Feathers Hotel Unveils ‘Marudham’
A Culinary Tribute to the Fertile Heartland of Tamil Nadu
Some of Tamil Nadu’s most treasured recipes have always lived quietly in village kitchens, passed down through generations rather than written in cookbooks. This August, Sangamithirai – Native Thamizh Cuisine at Feathers Hotel brings these forgotten flavors to the city with ‘Marudham – Inspired by the Land,’ a specially curated food festival celebrating the rich culinary traditions of the fertile Cauvery Delta.
Available for Lunch and Dinner from August 7th -16th 2026, the festival pays homage to the agricultural heartland of Trichy, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Pattukottai and Mannargudi, where every recipe is deeply rooted in the land, seasons and local harvest.
Adding a unique dimension to the experience, each day’s specially curated set menu is named after one of Tamil Nadu’s iconic rivers—Vaigai, Bhavani, Pennai and Siruvani—symbolising the rivers that have nourished the state’s fertile plains and culinary heritage for centuries.
The thoughtfully crafted menus showcase a collection of rare regional delicacies that are seldom found in restaurants today. Guests can savor comforting dishes such as Vallarai Keerai Saaru, Arasapattu Poricha Kuzhambu, Pasalai Keerai Thippili Rasam, and Veppam Poo Kootu, alongside traditional favourites including Rathasali Idiyappam, Vennai Parotta, Srirangam Vadai, Naatu Kozhi Suttathu, Mari Erachi Kozhambu, and the aromatic Pettai Kozhi Briyani.
The culinary journey concludes with an indulgent selection of authentic village desserts featuring Panai Olai Thinai Kozhukattai, Ulundhu Kali, Vethalai Payasam, Kasa Kasa Payasam, Poori Payasam, and the refreshing Nungu Payasam, each prepared using time-honoured techniques and traditional ingredients.
More than a food festival, Marudham is an immersive celebration of Tamil Nadu’s farming communities, native produce and forgotten recipes—bringing to life the flavors that once graced every harvest feast and family gathering across the Cauvery Delta.
Every dish in Marudham carries a story—from the fertile fields of the Cauvery Delta to the family kitchens where these recipes have been lovingly preserved. Our aim is to bring these timeless flavors to today’s diners while staying true to their authentic roots.” Said Mr. Narayana Murthi, Executive Chef of Feathers Hotel.
