Obese? Over Weight? Don’t worry, Ayurveda has an easy solution for it!

You walk out on the street and 1 in 10 people we see are overweight. This is not something we are throwing out randomly, but it is a fact. And a scary one at that. In today’s fast-paced world, adults and children have succumbed to the fast-food fads and eating at odd hours, which leads to an unhealthy lifestyle. This, in turn, leads to putting on the kilos, which can lead to ailments and illnesses. When a person is overweight, beyond the allowed weight for their age and height, it is referred to as being Obese. A condition that was once quite rare is today a common factor.

Being thin is fashionable, but being fat has become the norm of the century. While few are busy flaunting their size zero body, there are quite a few who aspire to reach that level but are constantly fighting the battle. Even though there are quite a few pills and treatments that can help a person keep their weight in check, it doesn’t seem to work in the long run or comes with a varied range of side effects.

However, on the other hand, Ayurveda seems to have cracked the puzzle, giving people hope that they can fight it and come out winners.

Apart from looking at a person’s lifestyle and eating habits, Ayurveda looks at their body type as well. Based on the diagnosis, reports are generated and diets are prescribed. These are very unlike the No carb or no Meat diet, but are more rounded and prove to be helpful and enable the person to lead a healthy lifestyle.

How Ayurveda is special?

Ayurveda’s understanding of obesity is different from Modern medicine or any other system of medicine. Ayurveda tries to evaluate the weight gain through its unique Prakriti analysis which can be compared as a genetic coding of an individual. This helps the Ayurveda doctor to understand the cause, pathogenesis, management, and recommend better result-oriented treatment program or lifestyle modification.

What is the typical Ayurvedic diet like?

Don’t fear, we are not going to ask you to eat raw vegetables or drink herb juices.  Ayurveda is the way of life where you get to eat,

-Plenty of  Barley, Green gram, Red gram, and Horse gram in the diet. Include Honey and do away with sugar.
-Drink warm water to help remove the toxins. Switch from sunflower oil to Sesame oil

-Indian vegetables are healthier than western vegetables
-Stop eating sweets, especially those made with milk, sugar, wheat, and even pastries
