Young Guns Shine on Day 2 of the Point Break Challenge as India’s Surfers Chase Finals Spots at Mahabalipuram
Day 2 of the Point Break Challenge delivered rising drama at Mahabalipuram as India’s surfers battled through the draw at Stop 3 of the Surfing Federation of India (SFI) National Surf Series.
The day belonged to the next generation. Junior surfer Harish P produced a standout performance to power through to the Semifinals of the Men’s Open — a marquee result for a young athlete taking on the country’s best. In the Women’s Quarterfinals, Kamali Moorthy led the way with the top score of her round, staking her claim as one to watch heading into the business end of the event.

Women’s Open — Kamali Moorthy — 6.83
18 & Under Boys — Kishore Kumar — 9.83
18 & Under Girls — Kamali Moorthy — 8.00
14 & Under — Prahalad Sriram — 7.50
Kishore Kumar was the standout scorer of the day, posting a huge 9.83 in the 18 & Under Boys — the highest single-wave score of Day 2.
With the field now narrowing, the Point Break Challenge builds to its finals on 1 August. From there the national series moves to the Covelong Classic, Chennai (6–8 August), before Mahabalipuram hosts the international WSL Shore Temple Classic from 12–16 August.
