We learned about them in primary school, drudgingly memorizing their properties, deficiencies and where to find them naturally. It’s undoubted, the importance of vitamins, so important that Lana Del Rey refers to herself as one, and then later claiming she’s also sugar venom- but That’s a topic of discussion for another time.

Here are some vitamin sources found either in supplement form or cosmetics to help bring out the healthiest glow you’ve ever had.

Vitamin A:  Skin is a retinoid-responsive organ, which readily absorbs vitamin A when applied topically. Retinol stimulates the production of new skin cells and without it, skin can become overly dry. It cures skin conditions such as acne and psoriasis. Some retinoids are even used to cure cancer.

Topical vitamin A in the form of retinol, that is found in over-the-counter products and retinoic acid, found in prescription creams are proven wrinkle-fighters. Research states that these ingredients are able to stimulate collagen production that begins to decrease once you hit the age of 20.

It is important to note that if you are pregnant, feeding, or planning on getting pregnant you must steer clear from retinol. As the European Medicines Agency states- Topical retinoids are less likely to cause harm to the unborn child than oral retinoids. However, as a precaution, you should not use them during pregnancy and when you are planning to have a baby.

You can find Retin-A at different levels of concentration in your pharmacy. Be sure to use it only at bedtime, apply a few spots on your cleansed face (preferably 20-30 minutes after). It works miracles on your skin causing it to be plumper, smoother and blemish-free.

Vitamin C:  The antioxidant properties of vitamin Cand its role in collagen production make vitamin C an A-plus skin necessity. Dietary and topical forms of Vitamin C have beneficial effects including that vitamin C may help prevent and treat ultraviolet UV ray induced skin damage and exposure to pollution.

It also contains a property that inhibits your skin’s melanin production, which is what causes skin discoloration like dark spots and hyperpigmentation while maintaining your natural skin tone.

You can obtain Vitamin C in serums, which are really super serums that magically transform your skin or in crystal form. Mix the crystal with solvents and apply the mixture on your face. Again, it is advisable to check with a dermatologist or skin doctor about whether certain products agree with your skin.

Vitamin E: Vitamin C’s potency and beneficial qualities can only be enhanced by its accomplice Vitamin E which has anti-inflammatory properties that when topically applied to your face can greatly improve its condition and make skin look younger.

It blocks free radicals in your body which reduces the formation of wrinkles. It also calms and soothes the skin.

Vitamin E and Vitamin C together are deadly (youth-promoting) combination. Vitamin E helps Vitamin C work much more effectively and together they prevent sun damage, stop foreign radicals from entering the body and soothe the skin.
