As we near the International Day of Sign Languages which is on September 23rd. We at Novotel Ibis Chennai OMR welcome guests in sign language. The hotel empowers hearing-impaired people in various departments such as engineering, housekeeping, stores management, etc. The hotel actively encourages learning sign language among other staff through training’s & awareness programs to offer a better experience so that customers feel valued.
Most come from lower-middle-class families, with just a basic education although a few have completed higher education. Director of HR says ‘We try giving differently-abled employee’s roles or placing them in positions where they are not at a disadvantage and also ensure equal opportunities in enhancing skill and knowledge levels with adequate training and constant refresher modules’
We are also equally concerned about guests who are differently-abled and who we believe should have easy access to all areas of our hotels, we have designated areas starting from parking, special toilets, disable friendly rooms and special assistance by the concierge to help guest round.
