Rasanai presents The Great Saiva Festival, a celebration of South India’s diverse street food culture, bringing together the flavours of Tamil, Kannadiga, Andhra/Telugu and Malayali cuisines under one roof. The festival will be available across Rasanai outlets in Chennai, Coimbatore and Kochi.

South India’s street food culture is among the country’s most distinctive culinary traditions, shaped by temple-town flavours, local ingredients and age-old techniques such as fermentation, tempering and slow roasting. Yet, vegetarian South Indian street food often remains underrepresented at urban food festivals.

The Great Saiva Festival aims to spotlight this culinary diversity through an entirely vegetarian menu presented in an authentic, street-style format. The festival brings together familiar regional favourites from across South India, while giving them a contemporary vegetarian interpretation.

The menu features a range of signature dishes including Periyakadai Veethi Javvarisi Bonda with Kara Chutney, Saiva Eeral Varuval, Bunglow Saiva Meen Varuval, Mangalore Buns with Mock Chicken Gassi, Rose Badam Kalalandu Pongal and more.

A distinctive feature of the festival is its selection of plant-based mock meat and seafood dishes, created to capture the char, spice, texture and character associated with classic non-vegetarian street food, without using meat.

From shopping-street bondas and Malabar tapioca cutlets to Mangalorean ghee roasts and Chettinad-style chutneys, The Great Saiva Festival brings together the varied flavours of South India in one vegetarian celebration, offering diners an opportunity to explore the richness and variety of South Indian vegetarian street food.
