Monkey Shoulder hosts the World Ultimate Bartender Championship in India

Monkey Shoulder, the premium blended malt Scotch whisky, today announces the arrival of the World Ultimate Bartender Championship (WUBC) in India, inviting bartenders from across the country to compete in a global skills-based competition designed to champion real-world bartending excellence.
One finalist from each country will have the opportunity to represent their country on the international stage in Asia at the World Ultimate Bartender Championship Global Final in December, where top bartenders from over twenty countries will go head-to-head for the title of ultimate bartender champion.
Hosted by Vidit Mantri, Brand Ambassador, Monkey Shoulder India, the 2026 edition marks the ninth year of the Ultimate Bartender Championship in India, with 1,500+ registrations already this year – highest ever.

From first-time cocktail makers to expert bartenders the competition champions skill and accuracy refereed through objective challenges, not judged by online credentials. Forget everything you know about conventional cocktail competitions. The World Ultimate Bartender Championship takes a different approach – focusing not on theatrical drinks presentations, but on the fundamental everyday skills that define great bartenders and support long-term careers behind the bar.
Designed in partnership with globally renowned industry experts, the competition puts real skills firmly in the spotlight. Across six fast-paced challenges, competitors are tested on everything that matters behind the bar – from sharp industry knowledge and precise pouring to sensory nosing skills, confident table service, and the ability to deliver a perfectly balanced Monkey Shoulder Old Fashioned against the clock. The final hurdle is a high-pressure head-to-head round-building challenge, designed to determine the ultimate bartender champion.
The first five challenges have equally weighted points, as no single skill is more important than another. The top-scoring bartenders progress to the final round to compete for the title. With more bartending competitions than ever before, choosing which ones to enter and how to maximise them, can play a defining role in a bartender’s career.

The India heats will take place across Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Pune, Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Jaipur, with Guwahati, Chennai and Jaipur joining the championship as three new cities in 2026.
