Rotary District 3234 Distributes Bicycles to 425 Students Under “Gift of Mobility” Initiative

In a meaningful initiative aimed at supporting access to education, Rotary International District 3234 successfully organised the “Gift of Mobility” project, distributing bicycles to 425 school going girls and boys at Amir Mahal Ground, Royapettah, Chennai.

The project was supported by Meridian Global Ventures Pvt Ltd under CSR Grant No. CS2600869. The initiative is designed to ease students  daily commute to school, reduce drop out rates, and encourage continued education , particularly among children from underserved communities.

The programme was led by District Governor AKS.Rtn.Vinod Saraogi (2025–26), who highlighted Rotary’s commitment to educational empowerment and community upliftment.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Rtn.AKS.Er Muruganandam (MMM), RI Vice President (2026–27) and RI Director (2025–27), who commended the scale and impact of the initiative. He emphasised that mobility is directly linked to opportunity and that such interventions create lasting change in students’ academic journeys.

Guest of Honour Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali, Dewan to the Prince of Arcot, appreciated Rotary’s consistent grassroots efforts in enabling access to education and strengthening communities.

Also present on the occasion was Rtn.Ravi Sundaresan, District Governor (2028–29), along with Rotary leaders and members from across the district.

Club Presidents supporting the initiative included Rtn. Baskaran (RC Madras Pallava), Rtn. Bala Karthik S (RC Madras Besant Nagar), Rtn. Mohamed Kamal (RC Madras Silver Beach), Rtn. Ravikumar K S (RC Chennai Mugappair), and Rtn. Nabin Prasad Yadav (RC Chennai Nandanam).

The “Gift of Mobility” initiative reflects Rotary’s enduring motto of Service Above Self. By providing bicycles, the programme enhances school attendance, promotes punctuality, improves safety, and instils confidence among young students .

Rotary District 3234 continues to implement impactful community projects focused on education, healthcare, environment, and sustainable development across the region.
