Celebrate Ugadi with a Traditional Festive Thali at Madras Kitchen, Marriott Executive Apartments Bengaluru UB City
As the Deccan New Year approaches, Madras Kitchen invites guests to mark the occasion with “Ugadi: The First Feast”, a specially curated dining experience that brings together the traditions, symbolism, and comforting flavours of a festive South Indian celebration.
Rooted in the cultural significance of Ugadi, the experience reflects the philosophy at the heart of the festival embracing the many flavours of life and the balance they represent as the year unfolds.
At the centre of the spread is Ugadi Pachadi, the festival’s most symbolic preparation that brings together six distinct tastes—sweet, sour, bitter, salty, spicy, and tangy—each representing the range of emotions and experiences that shape the year ahead. The festive thali is complemented by a thoughtful selection of classic South Indian dishes, including slow-simmered dals, seasonal vegetable preparations, fragrant rice varieties, and traditional accompaniments that add depth and warmth to the meal. A selection of festive sweets completes the experience, offering a sweet beginning to the New Year.
Guests can also enjoy traditional seasonal beverages such as Panakam, a refreshing jaggery-based cooler infused with spices, and Neer Mor, a lightly seasoned buttermilk known for its cooling and digestive qualities. The meal concludes with freshly brewed South Indian filter coffee, served in classic style.
Set within the warm and inviting ambience of Madras Kitchen, the celebration offers families, corporate groups, cultural diners, and in-house guests an opportunity to come together and welcome the New Year through a meal that honours heritage, flavour, and the joy of shared traditions.
