5 Bad Bollywood Remakes of South Films which never satisfied the Audiences

Bollywood is the largest film industry in India, but is it the best? Nope! As you may have noticed, Bollywood enjoys remaking popular films from other film industries. Bollywood has done many remakes of Hollywood films. but there is something about Bollywood that makes it want to remake every major South Indian film. If you watch a lot of Bollywood films but not South Indian films, you’ve probably never seen the original versions of some Bollywood films. But don’t worry. We’ll now look at some of the seriously bad Bollywood remakes of South Indian films that you should avoid watching. Instead, stick with the original.

Bad Bollywood remakes of South Films:
Youngistaan

Remake of: Leader

Syed Ahmad Afzal is the director of the Bollywood film Youngistaan. The leading actors in the movie are Neha Sharma, Farooq Sheikh, Deepankar De, and Kayoz Irani. The movie is a remake of the Telugu film Leader. A young man who succeeds his father as India’s prime minister refuses to leave his live-in girlfriend (Neha Sharma). This is the main plot of the movie. It is a love story set against the backdrop of Indian politics. Youngistaan was one of the worst-performing films, even though Leader performed extremely well at the box office. The only good thing to come out of this bad remake was the song Suno Na Sangemarmar.

Khushi

Remake of: Khushi

Khusi

The Bollywood movie Khushi, with Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles, was directed by S. J. Suryah. The movie is a remake of a Tamil film of that exact name, also directed by S. J. Suryah. The Tamil film starred Vijay and Jyothika in the lead roles. Bollywood’s attempt to recreate the Tamil version’s success failed and was labelled a failure. The movie follows two coworkers who develop feelings for one another while assisting two other people on their path to marriage. Old-school fans of Kollywood will be aware that Vijay and Jyothika’s performances will never be topped. So it’s not surprising that this bad Bollywood remake was bombed.

Big Brother

Remake of: Baashaa

The same plot was tackled with a very different reception in Hindi’s Big Brother and Tamil’s Baashha, with Rajinikanth and Nagma. PC’s sombre performance stressed people out and is one of her worst acts. But Nagma’s blustery performance won her many accolades. The film’s plot depicts Sunny Deol’s character, a rickshaw driver, as a vigilante. He becomes a protector of women after his sister’s rejected suitor hurls acid in her face. Priyanka Chopra’s acting skills aside, the film’s remake was simply unnecessary. If you enjoy the story, try the original and see what you think.

OK Jaanu

Remake of: OK Kanmani

The remake of OK Kanmani (O Kadhal Kanmani) by Mani Ratnam, Ok Jaanu, focuses on contemporary complicated relationships. The remake had very little to offer its fans than the original, aside from PDA, while the first film perfectly captured freedom and love. Even though the audience adored the original, the remake utterly failed at the box office! However, we must recognise and value the lovely songs that the remake gave us. Two of the greatest Bollywood songs ever are The Humma Song and Enna Sona. Therefore, even if we are not happy with the remake, let’s try to be grateful for the music we have. Give OK Kanmani a try if you want to be blown away by Dulquer and Nitya Menon’s performance.

Mimi

Remake of: Mala Aai Vhhaychy

Mimi

Mala Aai Vhaychay, a groundbreaking Marathi movie that was released ten years ago, is the source material for Mimi. Mala Aai Vhaychay successfully engaged the audience in a conversation about surrogacy, while Mimi failed to do so. Mimi, in contrast to the original, did not have an authentic approach to storytelling, depriving the plot of its essential emotional core. Kriti Sanon did her character justice in the remake, but the original, like all of the other films mentioned above, was superior. We think they should have worked harder to convey the story’s key emotions. As a result, no one in the film audience enjoyed this bad Bollywood remake.
