Disenchanted has started production. The movie is directed by Adam Shankman and stars Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Idina Menzel, Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jayma Mays, Kolton Stewart, Oscar Nuñez and Gabby Baldacchino.
Disney released the first set of photo and cast details from Disenchanted with Amy Adams and director Adam Shankman posing together showing that production has begun.

The official handle of Disney Studios dropped the confirmation on the production. It said, “Amy Adams and @AdamShankman took over our Twitter account today for a special announcement of what ‘ever after’ looks like! Introducing the cast of #Disenchanted: @AmyAdams, @PatrickDempsey, @James_Marsden, @IdinaMenzel, @Princesstagram (Maya Rudolph), @YvetteNicoleBrown, Jayma Mays, Kolton Stewart, @OscarNunezLa and @GabbyBaldacchino.
#Disenchanted is streaming on @DisneyPlus in 2022!”
Adams will return to her role of Giselle and produce Disenchanted alongside Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld, who previously served as producers on Enchanted.
Enchanted premiered in 2007, and served as both homage and parody of Disney’s animated films. Disenchanted was officially announced at Disney Investor Day in 2020.
