SURYAKUMAR YADAV CLOSES ETHNIX BY RAYMOND’S ‘WEDDING STORIES’ AT LAKMĒ FASHION WEEK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FASHION DESIGN COUNCIL OF INDIA (FDCI)
The showcase brought together contemporary Indian menswear, six leading content creators on the runway and a specially curated live musical experience by Twin Strings
Indian cricket star Suryakumar Yadav took the runway as the showstopper for Ethnix by Raymond’s Wedding Stories at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), held at Taj Palace, New Delhi. The showcase brought Indian craftsmanship and contemporary occasion wear together, celebrating the evolving style of the modern Indian man.
Suryakumar wore an ensemble inspired by Indian chintz florals, featuring multicoloured Gresham embroidery, a long jacket and matching relaxed fit trousers. The look brought together heritage craftsmanship and contemporary couture, reflecting Ethnix by Raymond’s modern approach to Indian occasion wear.
The evening also featured a specially curated live musical experience by Twin Strings, blending Bollywood classics with international electronic sounds, Afro house and contemporary pop to create an energetic soundtrack for the fashion walk, with a Raymond tune integrated into the performance. The runway further featured six leading content creators, Aayush Yadav, Rahul Verma, Kunal Tomar, Manmeet Singh, Giri Sawalkar and Isshan Thakur, adding a contemporary, creator led dimension to the showcase.
Suryakumar Yadav commented, “Fashion has always been another way for me to express my personality. It was exciting for me to walk today for Ethnix by Raymond at Lakmē Fashion Week. ‘Wedding Stories’ brings together the richness of Indian craftsmanship with a contemporary sense of style, and I enjoyed celebrating their version of the modern Indian man through fashion.”
Vipul Mathur, Chief Business Officer, Ethnix by Raymond, said, “At Raymond, we believe ethnicwear is evolving beyond traditional occasions into a powerful expression of personal identity for the modern Indian man. With Wedding Stories, we bring together heritage craftsmanship and contemporary Indo Western silhouettes to meet the changing aspirations of today’s consumer.”
Kalpana Singh, CMO, Raymond Lifestyle Limited, said, “Our partnership with Lakmē Fashion Week provides a platform to showcase the evolution of Indian menswear through modern tailoring, versatile silhouettes and rich heritage crafts. Having Suryakumar Yadav as our showstopper adds an exciting dimension to this narrative, as his confidence and individuality reflect the spirit of the contemporary Indian man.”
Titled Wedding Stories, the collection explores the breadth of contemporary Indian occasion wear, spanning kurtas, bandhgalas, sherwanis and Indo Western silhouettes, alongside shirts, suits and tuxedos. Drawing on Indian traditions of printing, dyeing, embroidery and weaving, it incorporates regional visual influences such as Warli art, Rajasthani miniatures and Jaipuri jharokhas into a contemporary design language.
The textile palette ranges from cotton, silk and linen blends to Jacquards, brocades, velvet and Jamawar. Floral Jacquards, placement prints and Jaipur inspired block prints introduce pattern, while embroidery and subtle lurex details add texture and understated sheen. Layered forms, asymmetric silhouettes and a balance of fitted structure and fluidity further define the collection, offering versatile options for the modern groom and wedding guests across ceremonies and celebrations.
Through its presentation at Lakmē Fashion Week, Ethnix by Raymond highlighted how Indian craftsmanship and textile traditions can evolve through modern design while remaining connected to their cultural roots. Bringing together fashion, music, cricket and creator culture, the showcase reflected the changing ways in which the modern Indian man approaches wedding and occasion dressing.
Ethnix by Raymond presented ‘Wedding Stories’ on 18 October 2026 at Taj Palace, New Delhi, as part of Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI, with SuryakumarYadav as the showstopper.
