“Echoes of the Trio”: Three Chennai Women Artists Unite for a Group Show on the Feminine and the Sacred

Echoes of the Trio, a contemporary and abstract group exhibition by three acclaimed women artists — Ezhil Aparajit, Kavitha Aravind and Radha Kannan, whose distinct visual languages converge in a shared celebration of Indian culture, femininity, and the sacred. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Ms. Anitha Pottamkulam, Director of Culture, DakshinaChitra, and will be open to the public from 27th July to 1st August 2026 at Sarala Art Gallery, Chennai.

Echoes of the Trio takes its inspiration from the collective’s emblem, an inverted triangle, the ancient symbol of Shakti representing the feminine principle in its three aspects of creation, sustenance, and dissolution. It is from this concept that the collective was born, three artists, three temperaments, and three ways of seeing, resolving into a single conversation. Under the theme “Three Creators. One Story”, the exhibition brings together three independent artistic practices that differ in medium and expression yet remain deeply connected by a common reverence for the feminine and the Indian cultural imagination.

The exhibition is conceived not as three separate displays sharing a space, but as a singular conversation exploring the wild and the sacred, womanhood, cultural heritage, and the creative energies that bind the three artists together. Moving seamlessly between tradition and abstraction, strength and grace, the exhibition invites audiences to experience art as a meditation on the enduring power of the feminine.

Ezhil Aparajit presents Wild & Sacred, a series in which wildlife becomes an embodiment of the divine, strength, instinct, and protection made visible. Working in acrylics and oil with a restrained, fire-based palette, she renders her subjects through Impressionist realism, reaching toward the unseen through the observed. Each artwork is energised with a chanted mantra, bringing an aura of vibration to the canvas, a practice grounded in spiritual discipline and a lifelong fascination with the natural world.

Kavitha Aravind celebrates the richness of ancient Indian tradition and the timeless resilience of women. Having evolved from realism into a more expressive and introspective style, she employs bold strokes and vibrant, luminous palettes to portray the many roles a woman embodies dignified, powerful, and victorious. Rooted in the cultural vibrancy of her native Madurai, her works reflect on how women are perceived, judged, and ultimately rise above with quiet strength.

Radha Kannan, a contemporary artist and educator shaped by the culture of the Cauvery Delta, creates abstract works that explore emotion, memory, and cultural narratives through layered textures and expressive forms. Drawing inspiration from Indian heritage, nature, and the quiet nuances of everyday life, she seeks to reveal not what is seen but what is felt, creating compositions that invite reflection, personal interpretation, and a deeper connection with the viewer.

Together, the three artists transform the gallery into a celebration of art, culture, and womanhood. Through their distinct yet complementary perspectives, Echoes of the Trio offers audiences an opportunity to engage with themes of identity, spirituality, memory, and the enduring creative force of the feminine.
