Hand Over ₹1.45 Crore, 4D Echocardiography Machine to ICH, Egmore
In a major boost to public pediatric healthcare, the Rotary Club of Madras handed over a state-of-the-art Vivid E95 4D Echocardiography Machine to the Institute of Child Health (ICH) and Hospital for Children in Egmore, Chennai. Funded under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Kamarajar Port Limited, the advanced medical equipment is valued at ₹1.45 crore.
The official handover ceremony took place in the presence of Chief Guest Smt. Irene Cynthia, IAS (Managing Director, Kamarajar Port Limited) and Guest of Honour Dr. V. Poovazhagi (Director, ICH).
Strengthening Paediatric Cardiac Care
The newly installed Vivid E95 machine will enable detailed assessment of each child’s heart structure and function. It will directly support the early diagnosis of congenital and complex cardiac conditions, treatment planning, and preoperative evaluation. Additionally, the department will use the system to monitor postoperative recovery, catch complications early, and guide long-term follow-up care.
Because transthoracic echocardiography relies on ultrasound waves through the chest wall rather than ionising radiation, it provides a safe, repeatable imaging option for young patients. Having direct, in-department access to this technology will drastically reduce assessment delays, eliminate the need for families to seek external diagnostic testing, and support timely, patient-centred care.
Advancing Pediatric Cardiac Care: The Transformative Benefits of 4D TEE
The introduction of the 4D TEE Echocardiogram system to ICH Egmore marks a monumental milestone for public healthcare in Chennai. By equipping premier pediatric institutions with next-generation medical technology, collaborative community initiatives—like this partnership between the Rotary Club of Madras and Kamarajar Port Limited—successfully bridge the gap between advanced medical science and accessible public care. For young patients suffering from complex heart conditions, this technology translates to earlier diagnoses, safer interventions, and a healthier heartbeat for a brighter future.
