Some love stories begin with unexpected connections. For Siddhant Shirodkar and Maalavika Manoj, a professional collaboration blossomed into deep friendship and led to a lifelong commitment. Their wedding, set against Mahabalipuram’s breathtaking coastal landscape, beautifully fused South Indian and Maharashtrian traditions into a vibrant celebration of love and culture.
Both entrenched in India’s music scene, Siddhant and Maalavika share a passion for storytelling through sound. Maalavika, known as Mali, is a pop singer-songwriter and composer who frequently performs all over the country and recently opened for Ed Sheeran’s Bengaluru concerts in February 2025. Siddhant, a composer, producer, and audio engineer, is recognized for his work as a film composer, as well as projects such as Ape Echoes and Paraphoniks. Mali and Sid created a wedding infused with their mutual artistic and musical essence.
Together with their families, the couple curated a culturally rich celebration, highlighting sacred Kerala rituals and authentic Maharashtrian customs. Mahabalipuram’s stunning architecture and beaches offered an idyllic backdrop for the festivities.
Kicking off with a lively evening pool party, the music featured Yohann Jamsandekar aka Spacejams on the decks along with Allwyn Jeyapaul on percussion and James Miranda on Trumpet. A surprise dance by the bride’s parents, a flash mob, and a flash mosh pit amped up the excitement. The night flowed seamlessly into a memorable concert by Paris Select.
Kerala tradition shone through the next day with a sumptuous Elai Sappadu feast, while guests embraced Malayali culture in traditional veshti attire.
Sid’s baraat featured an unconventional playlist of rock, jungle and heavy metal, while Mali’s version of Phil Collins’s “You’ll Be in My Heart,” performed by herself and her friends, added a personal and emotional touch to her entrance. The ceremony under a mandap of flowers and greenery resembled an enchanted forest.
A traditional sangeet was replaced by live musical performances from Mali and Sid’s friends, creating an unforgettable night of song, love and camaraderie. Spacejams, Jai Anand, Ash Roy, Monophonik, and Nate08 kept the party going till dawn.
Unique touches, like the humorous wedding shooter ‘Shi-Man’ (an abbreviation of Shirodkar and Manoj) and tastefully curated MyMuse intimate wellness hampers, added a playful charm and thoughtfulness to the occasion.
Reflecting on their magical wedding, Siddhant and Maalavika expressed, “We couldn’t have asked for a more lightning-in-a-bottle experience. Everyone showed up with the most loving energy”.
Ms. Anjali Tolani, VP of Celebrations at Tamarind Global, noted, “We craft weddings that reflect each couple’s unique journey. Siddhant and Maalavika’s celebration was the perfect blend of culture, creativity, and love.”
This wedding stood out, not for its extravagance, but for its warmth and personalized touch—a unique testament to love, tradition, and new beginnings.
