​Bala Heads To DriveIn Film Fest In Toronto

A content drama based in social biases, Bala, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pedenkar and Yami Gautam heads to Lavazza DriveIn Film Fest in Toronto.

Helmed by Amar Kaushik, and produced by Dinesh Vijan, based on an original story by Bengali film director Pavel Bhattacharjee about the life of Rohit Sood, the film created history at the box-office.

Official handle of Maddock film just confirmed the news on social media. It said, “Hello #Toronto, Bringing #Bala at #Lavazza #DriveIn Film Fest on 31st July, to beat the feeling of isolation in safe event of a Drive-In after the pandemic, representing #India! @ayushmannk @bhumipednekar @yamigautam @amarkaushik #DineshVijan @jiostudios”

Ayushmann Khurrana starred as the titular character, a young man living in Kanpur who is suffering from male pattern baldness, and the story is about his lack of confidence and societal pressure that comes with premature balding. Another theme in the film is colourism.

The official handle of Jio Studios confirmed the same, it said, “#Bala @ Lavazza Drive-In Film Fest on July 31 in Toronto.The fest meant to overcome the sense of isolation in safe envt of a DriveIn,Bala to represent India as one of the countries hit by the pandemic @ayushmannk @bhumipednekar @yamigautam @amarkaushik #DineshVijan @maddockfilms”

The film also starred Javed Jaffrey, Saurabh Shukla, and Seema Pahwa in supporting roles.
