Picklersss by Sports Den Celebrates Grand Opening of Third Indoor Pickleball Venue in Kolapakkam

Chennai, 9th February 2025 – Picklersss by Sports Den proudly inaugurated its third indoor pickleball facility at Kimberly Garden, Pallavaram Road, Kolapakkam, Chennai. The grand opening marked another milestone in Chennai’s growing sports landscape, drawing sports enthusiasts, dignitaries, and top athletes.

The event commenced with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by an engaging exhibition match featuring leading pickleball players from Tamil Nadu. Competitive spirit and energy of the game captivated attendees, showcasing the thrilling nature of pickleball. Esteemed guests gracing the occasion included Mr. Habib W.S, Managing Director of RWD Builders; Mr. Ram Sukumar, Co-Founder of Indium Software; and Mr. Balaji Sadagopan, Co-Founder of Chai Kings. Their presence underscored the significance of this innovative sporting initiative. Sooraj Viswanathan, the visionary behind Picklersss by Sports Den, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion: “Our mission is to make pickleball accessible to everyone. Open 24/7, it features a dedicated Sports Den Pro Store catering specifically to pickleball enthusiasts with a wide range of equipment. Similarly, the Royapettah facility houses a Pro Store exclusively stocked with pickleball gear. In Mandaveli, players benefit from a specialized Pro Store offering accessories not just for pickleball but also for tennis and badminton, making it a versatile hub for sports enthusiasts. Speaking at the event, Mr. Habib W.S, Managing Director of RWD Builders, emphasized the importance of such ventures, stating, “Sports plays a crucial role in enhancing both physical and mental well-being. This sport is rapidly gaining traction, and I look forward to participating in future leagues and tournaments.” Nirmal Kumar, a leading pickleball player from Chennai, highlighted the sport’s rapid growth in India: “Pickleball was introduced to India around six to seven years ago, and it has seen tremendous growth recently. In Delhi, there are around 350 courts, and Mumbai has about 500. I’m confident that Chennai will soon follow this trend. It’s a fun and easy game for everyone to enjoy.” The launch event felicitated Prithivi Shekar, a renowned tennis player and two-time Australian Open Champion for the deaf, whose presence added prestige to the occasion.
